PRINCE SIDHARTHA AND PROPHET MUHAMMED THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY SLEPT

Any of you who has studied first aid would be aware of the first aid given to a patient having breathing  problems. They are first turned towards their right side ,the knees are slightly bent, the right palm is placed under the right cheek and the left palm is placed over their left thigh. This eases any obstruction in their airway and helps them breath more easily. This position not only helps the heart situated on the left side to pump blood more easily but also aids in the easy digestion of food.

Now being in a Buddhist country, even if you may not be aware of any first aid, this position would most probably be very familiar to most of you. This is the position in which Lord Buddha slept! All the sculptures of him in the sleeping position shows us ample proof of this fact. As for the knees bent part it was most probably not noticed by his disciples due to his flowing robes or has been lost in recording within this approx 2000 years of Buddhist history. And now for the interesting part.

Many of you might be surprised to learn that Prophet Muhammed too, who Muslims follow as their prophet ,slept exactly in the same manner and that’s the sunnah or recommended manner in which all Muslims are expected to sleep . For evidence you couldn’t find any sculptures ,but you can find it among hundreds of books written about his lifestyle .Going a little more deeper into history books I found that that was also the manner in which the other prophets slept, from Moses to Jesus and Adam to Solomon. Now how could this be so?? Most of the prophets never even met each other to share this interesting health tip and some even lived centuries apart, let alone in different continents. Don’t you think this fact alone contains a mystery that requires some serious answering?? Over to any of you who can solve this for me..

We Muslims believe that there were approximately over 100,000 Prophets sent by Allah to earth. Among these Prophets are those mentioned in the Qur’an. Some are Adam (arabic Aadham) Moses (ar. Musa), Abraham (ar. Ibraaheem), and Solomon (ar. Suleymaan), and Jesus (ar. Eesaa). These Prophets were sent to specific communities and for only specific periods of time.
The specialty of Muhammed (peace be upon him) is that he was sent for all of mankind and for all of time from the start of his Prophethood. The religions brought about by the preceding Prophets were rendered obsolete because they were meant only for specific periods of time and for specific communities only. Not a single one of the previous Prophets ever stressed on the fact that he was the LAST Prophet from Allah. But Muhammed (pbuh) always stressed that he was the last in the continuous chain of Prophets sent down with religions. He always stressed that the famous Prophets like Moses and Jesus and Abraham were his ‘brothers’ and not his rivals.
Now when one looks at it with an open mind and good research, one finds a consistency in ALL of these Prophets. The MAIN consistent link, or the common denominator among these Messages was that the people to whom these Messages were sent to should FIRST AND FOREMOST recognize the Oneness of Allah in creating, sustaining and cherishing all of Creation. And also recognize that Allah is unique in that there is nothing at all like Him. And that it is only He that we should worship and not object found in his creation, i.e idols, statues etc.
‘Don’t you think this fact alone contains a mystery that requires some serious answering?? ‘ There is a possibility that the Buddha was actually a Prophet sent down by Allah when considering the fact that he said that there would be another Buddha after him and the way he described how to identify the next Buddha. A leading authority in comparative religion has pointed out some of the similarities between these two Messages. You would be amazed at the how accurately the Buddha has described some of the ways to recognize the next Buddha and how these relate to Muhammed’s (pbuh) in very accurate detail. Similarly the books of Judaism as well as the Bible uncover the fact that there would be another Prophet after Moses and Jesus and the way the next Prophet would come to earth.
What you have found is just ONE of the many similarities among the Prophets sent down by Allah in order to guide mankind to a blessed eternal life in the hereafter. I humbly beg you to please research more into these massive proofs if you are not already a Muslim and may Allah guide you to correct knowledge.

    May peace be on you.
